Vacuum truck financing

A vacuum truck is a tank and a pump on a chassis, and what it pumps decides what it costs: a portable restroom service truck and a combination sewer cleaner are both vacuum trucks and they're $500,000 apart. iFinancial Group finances all of them, chassis and tank together, new or used, on a one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000.

Who you're dealing with

iFinancial Group has funded equipment since 1997, roughly $600 million of it, in all 50 states. We're a direct lender, not a broker, so the file is underwritten in house and not shopped around. Our customers have ranged from independent manufacturers to global technology companies. We've barely advertised in almost three decades. The business came from repeat customers, referrals, and vendors sending us their customers.

What you're financing

Portable restroom service trucks, with a split tank for waste and fresh water on a Class 4 to 6 chassis, typically list new from about $60,000 to $120,000. Septic pumper trucks, with 1,500 to 4,000 gallon tanks on a Class 6 to 8 chassis, run roughly $120,000 to $250,000. Industrial vacuum trucks for wet and dry material, with a 3,000 to 5,000 gallon tank and a high-volume blower, run $250,000 to $450,000. Combination sewer cleaners, the jet and vac units municipalities and sewer contractors use, run $350,000 to $600,000 and up.

Those are market ranges. Tank material, pump size, chassis spec and whether the blower runs off the engine or a power take-off all move the number.

What goes on the same approval

The chassis and the tank body are two invoices from two sellers and one truck. They go on one approval here. So does what the truck needs to work: hose and reels, a hydraulic hoist on a dump-style tank, a water heater on a combination unit, and the lettering and DOT placarding that have to be on it before it can run.

Freight from the tank builder, setup and operator training are soft costs and can ride on the same deal, on many deals up to 30% of the total.

Who buys them and how the payment gets covered

Septic and portable restroom companies, grease trap and car wash pit services, industrial cleaning contractors, sewer and storm drain contractors, and oilfield and plant service companies. A lot of it is route work, the same stops every week or month, which is about as predictable as revenue gets and underwrites well.

Portable restroom work spikes with events and construction season. Where the year is uneven, seasonal and step payments can follow it.

New or used

Used septic pumpers five to ten years old typically trade from about $50,000 to $130,000. Used industrial vac trucks and combination units run $120,000 to $300,000 depending on hours and the condition of the tank and blower. Dealer, auction and private party sales are all financeable.

On a used tank truck, the inspection that matters is the tank itself: wall thickness, the interior on a steel tank, the door seal and the primary and secondary shutoffs. On the financing side it's the invoice, the title and proof of what was paid.

What slows a vacuum truck deal down

New tank trucks are built to order and the builder's lead time can run months. An approval here holds up to 60 days, and we can often pay the builder at order so the deposit is part of the financing. How much is prefunded at order depends on the builder's terms and the file.

Route-based businesses also get bought and sold as businesses. If you're buying a septic company and its trucks together, the trucks can be financed on their own while the rest of the purchase is handled separately, which keeps the equipment out of the goodwill conversation.

How it works with iFinancial Group

It's the same one-page application whether the equipment is small or the deal runs to $1,000,000: no tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours, and an approval holds up to 60 days. New and used equipment, terms up to 84 months, and soft costs up to 30% so freight, setup and training can go in the same deal. Payment structures beyond level payments are there when the equipment earns unevenly. We've been doing this since 1997, in all 50 states.

Common questions

Can I finance a used septic truck from a private seller?

Yes. Private party, auction or dealer. The bill of sale, the title and proof of payment are what the review works from.

Does the pump or blower need to be new?

No. Used units are financed on their condition and the file. A rebuilt pump with a receipt is fine.

Can I add a second truck later without starting over?

Yes. Each truck is its own one-page application and its own approval, and a customer we've funded before is a shorter review the second time.

Can the truck chassis and the body be financed together?

Yes. The chassis from the truck dealer and the body from the upfitter are two invoices and one piece of equipment. They go on one approval and one payment.

What do you need to approve a deal?

A one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours.
