Injection molding machine financing

An injection molding machine is rarely bought alone: it comes with the mold for the part, a robot to pull the part, and the dryers, chillers and conveyors around it. iFinancial Group finances the press and the cell around it on one approval, new or used, on a one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000.

Who you're dealing with

iFinancial Group has funded equipment since 1997, roughly $600 million of it, in all 50 states. We're a direct lender, not a broker, so the file is underwritten in house and not shopped around. Our customers have ranged from independent manufacturers to global technology companies. We've barely advertised in almost three decades. The business came from repeat customers, referrals, and vendors sending us their customers.

What you're financing

Presses of 50 to 150 tons typically list new from about $80,000 to $200,000. The 200 to 500 ton class runs roughly $200,000 to $500,000. Presses above 500 tons run $500,000 to $1,500,000 and up. All-electric machines cost more than hydraulic ones of the same tonnage and use far less power.

Those are market ranges. Tonnage, shot size, the drive type, the builder and the controls move them.

What goes on the same approval

The press, the mold, a sprue picker or a 3-axis robot, the material dryer and loader, a mold temperature controller, a chiller, conveyors and a granulator go on one approval. A production mold can run $10,000 to $250,000 or more, and financing it with the press it runs in is one of the more useful things about doing the cell as one deal.

Rigging, installation and process training are soft costs and can ride on the same deal, on many deals up to 30% of the total.

Who buys them and how the payment gets covered

Custom molders, captive molders inside OEMs, medical and packaging molders, automotive suppliers, and consumer product companies bringing molding in house. The common trigger is a new program: a customer awards a part, and the molder needs the press and the mold to run it. The award or purchase order is the useful thing to have in hand.

A new program ramps over months. A deferred first payment, typically up to 90 days, or step payments can match the payment to the ramp.

New or used

Used presses five to fifteen years old typically trade from about $30,000 to $200,000 depending on tonnage. Molding machines run long lives, and dealers, plant auctions and molder-to-molder sales all move them. All three are financeable here.

On a used press, the screw and barrel wear, the hydraulics, the clamp and the control get the inspection. On the financing side it's the invoice or bill of sale, the serial number, a lien search on a private sale, and proof of what was paid.

What slows a molding deal down

The mold timeline. A new mold can take as long to build as the press takes to ship, and the moldmaker wants a deposit. On qualifying transactions we can pay at order so the deposits are part of the financing. An approval holds up to 60 days.

A large press with its cell above $1,000,000 is structured under a master lease. Below that line it's the same one page.

How it works with iFinancial Group

It's the same one-page application whether the equipment is small or the deal runs to $1,000,000: no tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours, and an approval holds up to 60 days. New and used equipment, terms up to 84 months, and soft costs up to 30% so freight, setup and training can go in the same deal. Payment structures beyond level payments are there when the equipment earns unevenly. We've been doing this since 1997, in all 50 states.

Common questions

Can the mold be financed with the press?

Yes. The mold is part of the equipment and goes on one approval with the press, even from a different vendor.

Can the robot and auxiliaries go on the same financing?

Yes. The robot, dryer, chiller, temperature controller, conveyors and granulator go on one approval as one cell.

Can the payments start when the new program ramps?

A deferred first payment, typically up to 90 days, or step payments that start lower and rise can match the payment to the ramp.

Can tooling, installation and training go on the same financing?

Yes. Tooling and fixtures are financed as part of the equipment. Rigging, installation, software and training are soft costs and can go on the same deal, on many deals up to 30 percent of the total.

What do you need to approve a deal?

A one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours.

Other manufacturing equipment: CNC machining center, CNC lathe, fiber laser cutting machine, press brake, waterjet cutting machine, robotic welding system, industrial 3D printer, forklift, packaging machinery. Or start with manufacturing equipment financing.
