Press brake financing

A press brake is where a fabrication shop's bottleneck usually moves the day the new laser arrives: the parts get cut twice as fast and then wait to be bent. iFinancial Group finances press brakes new or used, with the tooling on the same approval, on a one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000.

Who you're dealing with

iFinancial Group has funded equipment since 1997, roughly $600 million of it, in all 50 states. We're a direct lender, not a broker, so the file is underwritten in house and not shopped around. Our customers have ranged from independent manufacturers to global technology companies. We've barely advertised in almost three decades. The business came from repeat customers, referrals, and vendors sending us their customers.

What you're financing

Hydraulic CNC press brakes of 100 to 200 tons and 10 to 12 feet typically list new from about $60,000 to $150,000. Electric and hybrid press brakes with faster cycles and lower running cost run roughly $150,000 to $400,000. Automated bending cells with a robot or an automatic tool changer run $500,000 and up.

Those are market ranges. Tonnage, bed length, the number of back gauge axes, the control and the builder move them.

What goes on the same approval

The press brake, the punches and dies, an automatic tool changer, a back gauge upgrade, angle measurement, and the offline bending software go on one approval. A full tooling set for a production press brake can run $20,000 to $60,000 and is financed with the machine.

Rigging, installation and operator training are soft costs and can ride on the same deal, on many deals up to 30% of the total.

Who buys them and how the payment gets covered

Sheet metal and structural fabricators, enclosure and cabinet makers, HVAC manufacturers, trailer and truck body builders, and OEMs. The usual case is the one in the headline: a shop that added cutting capacity and now has parts stacked at the brake. A second press brake or an automated cell clears the bottleneck the laser created.

Where the work ramps with a new contract, a deferred first payment or step payments can carry the start.

New or used

Used CNC press brakes five to fifteen years old typically trade from about $20,000 to $120,000. Press brakes run long lives, and a well-maintained older machine with a retrofitted control is a normal purchase. Dealers, plant auctions and shop-to-shop sales are all financeable here.

On a used press brake, ram parallelism, the hydraulics, the back gauge and the control get the inspection. On the financing side it's the invoice or bill of sale, the serial number, a lien search on a private sale, and proof of what was paid.

What slows a press brake deal down

Mostly lead time on new machines, and the deposit on an automated cell. On qualifying transactions we can pay at order so the deposit is part of the financing. An approval holds up to 60 days.

Buying the laser and the press brake together is common, and both can go on one approval up to $1,000,000.

How it works with iFinancial Group

It's the same one-page application whether the equipment is small or the deal runs to $1,000,000: no tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours, and an approval holds up to 60 days. New and used equipment, terms up to 84 months, and soft costs up to 30% so freight, setup and training can go in the same deal. Payment structures beyond level payments are there when the equipment earns unevenly. We've been doing this since 1997, in all 50 states.

Common questions

Can the tooling be financed with the press brake?

Yes. Punches, dies and the tool changer go on one approval with the machine.

Can I finance a laser and a press brake together?

Yes. Both can go on one approval as one package, up to $1,000,000 on the one page.

Is an older press brake too old to finance?

Not on its own. Press brakes run long lives, and an older machine with a good service history is written on a shorter term.

Can tooling, installation and training go on the same financing?

Yes. Tooling and fixtures are financed as part of the equipment. Rigging, installation, software and training are soft costs and can go on the same deal, on many deals up to 30 percent of the total.

What do you need to approve a deal?

A one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours.
