Waterjet cutting machine financing

A waterjet cuts almost anything, metal, stone, glass, composites and rubber, without heat, which is why fabricators, stone shops and aerospace suppliers buy one when a laser can't do the job. iFinancial Group finances waterjets new or used, with the pump and abrasive system on the same approval, on a one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000.

Who you're dealing with

iFinancial Group has funded equipment since 1997, roughly $600 million of it, in all 50 states. We're a direct lender, not a broker, so the file is underwritten in house and not shopped around. Our customers have ranged from independent manufacturers to global technology companies. We've barely advertised in almost three decades. The business came from repeat customers, referrals, and vendors sending us their customers.

What you're financing

Compact waterjets on a 4 by 4 or 4 by 8 foot table typically list new from about $70,000 to $150,000. Production waterjets on a 5 by 10 foot or larger table with a 50 to 100 horsepower pump run roughly $150,000 to $350,000. 5-axis waterjets for bevels and complex parts run $300,000 to $600,000.

Those are market ranges. Table size, pump horsepower and pressure, the number of heads, the cutting head and the controller move them.

What goes on the same approval

The table, the high-pressure pump, the abrasive delivery and removal system, a bulk hopper, a water chiller or recycling system, and the nesting software go on one approval. An abrasive removal system is a $15,000 to $40,000 item that keeps the tank from being a weekly shovel job, and it's financed with the machine.

Rigging, installation and operator training are soft costs and can ride on the same deal, on many deals up to 30% of the total.

Who buys them and how the payment gets covered

Metal fabricators and job shops, countertop and stone fabricators, glass and tile shops, aerospace and composite manufacturers, gasket and rubber part makers, and sign and architectural shops. A waterjet in a stone shop cuts every countertop; in a job shop it takes the thick, heat-sensitive and exotic work that would otherwise go out.

Where the work is seasonal or tied to construction, seasonal or deferred payments can follow it.

New or used

Used production waterjets five to ten years old typically trade from about $40,000 to $180,000. The pump is the heart of the machine and the most expensive part to rebuild, so a used waterjet with a recently rebuilt pump is worth more. Dealers, auctions and shop-to-shop sales are all financeable here.

On a used waterjet, the pump hours and rebuild history, the cutting head, the table and the motion system get the inspection. On the financing side it's the invoice or bill of sale, the serial number, a lien search on a private sale, and proof of what was paid.

What slows a waterjet deal down

Mostly nothing. Waterjets are a straightforward machine to finance, and a used one can fund inside a week once the terms are signed. A new one with a long lead time can have the deposit paid at order on qualifying transactions. An approval holds up to 60 days.

How it works with iFinancial Group

It's the same one-page application whether the equipment is small or the deal runs to $1,000,000: no tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours, and an approval holds up to 60 days. New and used equipment, terms up to 84 months, and soft costs up to 30% so freight, setup and training can go in the same deal. Payment structures beyond level payments are there when the equipment earns unevenly. We've been doing this since 1997, in all 50 states.

Common questions

Can the abrasive removal system be financed with the waterjet?

Yes. The pump, abrasive system, hopper and chiller go on one approval with the table.

I run a countertop shop. Can I finance a waterjet?

Yes. Stone and countertop fabricators are a common waterjet buyer, and the file is the same one-page application.

Can I finance a used waterjet from another shop?

Yes. A private sale needs the bill of sale, the serial number, a lien search and proof of payment.

Can tooling, installation and training go on the same financing?

Yes. Tooling and fixtures are financed as part of the equipment. Rigging, installation, software and training are soft costs and can go on the same deal, on many deals up to 30 percent of the total.

What do you need to approve a deal?

A one-page application. No tax returns and no audited financial statements to apply, no minimum and up to $1,000,000. Decisions typically come back within 24 hours.
